An Invitation to Wait
Waiting upon God is the most effective, productive, and powerful way to live. It should be our lifestyle. Waiting is a spiritual posture. It is the spiritual discipline that informs us to this truth – only what God initiates, through His Holy Spirit and consistent with His Word, will reach eternity.
God is actively at work. We have often been deceived into thinking that if we are waiting, we are inactive. To the contrary: when we wait upon God, it is then and only then that we are moving with God. If we are not waiting upon God for His direction, we are wasting our days. That which we initiate through our own strength, based upon the best models or imagination will not stand the test of eternity.
Furthermore, the discipline of waiting brings us to the place of Christlikeness. It is in waiting that we are inwardly sanctified. It is the place where the Holy Spirit will speak deeply into our spirit. That reality alone makes waiting upon God worthy of our focus.
Sometimes the Body of Christ is called to wait together. Such events are part of the spiritual discipline of the community of Christ. When He calls the Body together to wait, He is telling us that there is that which He wants to accomplish and desires to communicate through the gifts He has placed in the Body.
We are coming together to Wait upon God in Plainfield, IN this October. This is an event that is open to all in the Body of Christ. We come without plans or agenda. We have no theme or program. Even though there are many called and gifted men and women of God coming to be part, we do not presume to know who will speak, share, or declare the Word of God. You are invited to join in this time of waiting. It is an opportunity to trust, receive, and to give as the Holy Spirit prompts and leads.
Plainfield Christ Fellowship will be hosting the event in conjunction with the Waiting ministry of Rev. Joe Nance, Pastor Thomas Young, and myself. Many other pastors, prayers, servants, and worship leaders will be assisting throughout and between the sessions. You are needed and we are confident in your contribution as you come prepared in prayer and postured in waiting.
